Birthdays!
We love to celebrate birthdays and do so by singing and offering the birthday child a choice of free time activity, such as a 10-minute indoor dance party, or extra recess. Because of allergies, summer birthdays, sugar rushes, and a whole lot of other reasons, we ask that parents and students NOT BRING FOOD to celebrate birthdays. We will find other ways to make you feel special, we promise!
Computers
Every student gets a chromebook to use at school. Students may use the chromebook only during classtime, unless they have specific permission to use it before or after school or during a break (this permission must be gotten each time and from the adult in charge of them at that time). For example, when students arrive at school, we consider this a time to socialize and get organized before homeroom starts. Students may not get computers unless they have permission to work on a specific project on that specific day. When not in use, chromebooks should always be in the charging stations and plugged in. Students also receive a school email address they will use for email and to log into sites such as google classroom, vocabulary.com, and newsela.com. Students have signed a code of conduct regarding use of their chromebooks that includes taking good physical care of them, visiting only school-appropriate websites, and communicating respectfully when online.
Lunches
Please pack a nut-free lunch every day. Students will have access to microwaves, but there can sometimes be a line. Students must bring all utensils they need. Waste-free lunches are encouraged! Also bring a water bottle!
Snacks
Please pack a small, healthy, not-super-messy afternoon snack.
Field Trips
Students are expected to go on all field trips. Trips will mostly happen on Tuesdays or Thursdays to make it easier for families to plan for. There may be a few instances where we'll go on different days due to weather or other external factors. Trips will also be listed on class homepage. If there is a conflicts please communicate that as soon as possible.
